Audio Visual Technician - Part-Time

Location: Ottawa, ON, Canada

The A/V technician will ensure setup and tear down of broadcast A/V equipment and patching on live event days and provide support during live events for the Stadium, Arena and broadcasters.

What's the Role?

  • Work with various parties to ensure smooth setup of A/V systems before and during events
  • Ensure integration of Stadium and Arena systems with broadcast providers covering events
  • Ensure all A/V requirements for media covering Stadium and Arena events are provided
  • Provide hands-on game-day support for all in-house technical systems during events
  • Maintain effective working relationships with broadcasters, staff and venue production teams with a focus on excellent customer service and venue system technical expertise
  • Assist with general IT networking systems that integrate with A/V systems such as cisco stadium vision
  • Responsible for OES game clock data functionality, testing, repair and distribution

What's the Need?

  • Degree or diploma in relevant field or acceptable combination of skills and experience
  • 3-10 years of operational experience of A/V systems during a broad range of live events such as national sporting events, press conferences, concerts, corporate AV and other live entertainment
  • Advanced understanding and troubleshooting of complex A/V equipment and systems
  • Experience integrating A/V systems with broadcast media systems and streaming devices
  • Strong customer service abilities, work ethic and positive attitude
  • Ability to work outside regular hours as needed which may include weekends and holidays as required by event schedule
  • Experience with QSC Q-SYS audio DSP system
  • General IT networking and computer skills are a strong asset
  • Professional knowledge of patching, cleaning and troubleshooting fiber optic equipment
  • Cable repair, cleaning and testing (BNC, XLR, smpte hybrid lemo, triax )
  • Ability to operate complex digital audio mixing consoles and broadcast video switchers
  • Able to work in a high pressure, tight deadline environment
  • Understanding of broadcast streaming encoders and decoders
  • Setting up broadcast cameras
  • Service, test and repair LED digital signage
  • Working knowledge of RS-232 and RS-485 serial data communication equipment
  • Significant memory and physically demanding work required
  • Must be available for evening and weekends
